Chocolate Chip Cookie Dough
Vegan Cookie Dough
The history behind the cookie dough
You can never go wrong when it comes to classic chocolate chip cookie dough. Every kid's favorite thing to do is to sneak into the kitchen and get a huge spoonful. A great thing about being an adult is that you no longer have to sneak bites, nor do you have to stop at just one spoonful.
Cookie dough is so good, but there's always those warnings on the label telling you not to consume raw cookie dough due to the egg. So my mom would not let us eat cookie dough on a regular basis because it can make you sick. Except on very rare occasions, she would plan these days for me and my sister, we called it pink & purple day. My mom would pick a day that she had off, usually a Friday, and she would let us stay home from school. The three of us would go to the movies, get our nails done and go out to lunch. The fun didn't end there, after our fun filled girls day we would stay up late watching movies and pigging out on junk food. My mom would get us all our favorites like pizza, soda, candy and cookie dough. It was the only time my mom would let us eat cookie dough in large amounts right out of the container.
Now as an adult I can eat cookie dough whenever I want it. No more sneaking in the kitchen or having to wait for special days. You have no parents to tell you no. You kind of just have to parent yourself. However, for times you don't want to parent yourself and you just need to eat a ton of cookie dough, this is the recipe for you. All you really need is 10 minutes of your time, a few ingredients, and your inner child. Then bam you got yourself some cookie dough. You most likely already have all the ingredients in your kitchen and the plus side is this cookie dough won't get you sick!
Time To Get Baked
- 1/2 cup of softened vegan butter (I use Earth Balance)
- 3/4 cup lightly packed brown sugar
- 1 1/4 cup of flour
- 1 tbsp of vanilla
- 2 tbsps of water
- Dash of salt
- Handful of vegan chocolate chips (Don't be afraid to add more if desired)
- In a small bowl add butter, flour and brown sugar. Stir together.
- Add water and vanilla; mix.
- Throw in chocolate chips and stir to combine.
**Side note: I chill mine in the fridge for at least a half an hour just because I think it's better that way, but you don't have to, you can just eat it right away.**
